Got this from my Sociology course today because we were discussing eating disorders and how people are being influenced to maintain unrealistic body sizes to conform to the "ideal body image".

They say that if Barbie was a real human being with those proportions, she would lack the ability to stand and move about like a normal human being.

Also, in this same study they found that 42% of girls in 3rd grade (ages 8-10) are unhappy with their weight. By the time they are 18, it's 78%. There were more statistics, but alas my teacher did not provide them all in handouts. 

And of course the average woman is an AVERAGE. Not everyone is 5'4" and not everyone should be aiming for 145 (that all varies depending on your height, size, health, etc etc) . It just pretty much shows how different the sizes of barbies and mannequins are to reality.

On the plus side, I'm actually making progress with my to-do list, it's over half done and it's only Friday! I feel extremely proud of myself for that. \o/

But sob trying to travel during Thanksgiving is expensive. Going to Chicago via bus is going to be $85 for a round trip. I'll have to wait until next paycheck, but I still plan on going. I want to see Chicago all prettied up for Christmas (for I am a Christmas geek), and to spend time with my brother and his girlfriend. Plus I admit there's a good part of me that just wants to get out of town that weekend for personal reasons. >>

Wedding stuff is finally OVER. My brother got married yesterday and now I have a sister-in-law. It was good and it was long. Once I get the photos I'll probably post some up here - in theory there will be a lot of me because for some reason the photographer had a mildly eerie fixation with me. o.0 She would pop up at random times going "^___^ I'm sorry but I just love taking your picture" and then take like several shots of me. VERY STRANGE CONSIDERING I WAS NOT EVEN IN THE WEDDING PARTY ITSELF. She also followed my sister-in-law into the bathroom when she was trying to get a breather during the dancing. So...strange DX

And random people (people I didn't KNOW) kept asking me when I was going to get married. Which ahahahaha...don't hold your breath guys. srly. >_>

But enough wedding stuff! I finally got my textbooks for Sociology and Psychology from Amazon! And my English ones should be coming in the mail >_> It's awesome because I ended up saving nearly 200 than I would have paying in the student bookstore on the campus. SUCCESS! I even caught up on all the assignments I need to do through Tuesday, so I plan to enjoy the rest of my weekend beyond a bit of studying for the Sociology exam.

As for manga reviews...I have nothing really to say about the newest chapter of Naruto or Claymore and there was no D.Gray-man this week so I think I will skip that part. HOWEVER I did watch all 26 episodes of Ouran High School Host Club - so I'll babble about that. =

SO MUCH FOR SLEEP EH?

I think I'm a hundred shades of disgusted and pissed right now.

So during high school (2005) I worked at Carmike Cinemas (an all-American company) for a job. The hours were insane and I ended up quitting due to health reasons (pretty much I landed in a hospital). But since there's not much else work in our town (which is why I commute so much), my little brother ended up working there and is currently a staff leader there (aka, not a manager but he has a little power).

Well apparently he found out yesterday that a co-worker of both of ours (she was there when I was too) died due to health reasons. Which sucks, but here is the kicker:

1) Apparently she died a month ago. Neither the management nor the corporation had looked into why an employee of several years with known health reasons stopped showing up for work. Someone who knew her had to come in and tell people a month later.

2) My brother being the nice boy he is suggested they get flowers to remember her by. Nothing giant, just some flowers. The company's answer to that? "That is an unnecessary expense".

....

And they say it's terrorists and foreign companies that are hurting our country.

Dad managed to make my little brother cry (not that he'll admit it) by pretty much standing him up tonight. Just...ugh. I'm used to the fact that my dad would rather do a dozen other things then spend time with his kids...but think Fish is still learning that fact. All in all, makes me want to kick my father's ass again.

I got a new computer chair off of Craig's list. Omg, so much better than the torture chair I used to have, I love it. &hearts

I start work tomorrow at 2 at the new job, I hope I do well. New jobs always make me nervous :O

Think I've hit writer's block with Nano. This so sucks, I really need to get my ass in gear with that, I am ridiculously behind.
