But yes I am back from Chicago (where I went for my older brother's wedding) and it was a lot of fun :) And spending more time with attaining was also a blast! I'd say more, but I'm dead tired after a 9 hour train ride.
Instead I'll just...C&P a potential plot idea I have for Reno that I wrote on the train. Hopefully it is coherent, I'm not sure anymore. VAST AMOUNTS OF REST HAVE NOT BEEN ON MY SIDE THIS WEEKEND.
( TLDR background info so this all makes sense since i know you don't read my mindCollapse )

Anyway so I'm starting to work on planning for April Fools at paradisa. For those of you who have no idea what that means, pretty much every year on April Fools for the past two years between 12am and 11:59pm EST - people are prone to burst into song. Muns can choose songs for their characters to sing and people have done some amazing things with it. On top of that, there are only three rules to it.
1) NO BACKTAGGING POSTS. It's April fools, it's supposed to seem spontaneous and contained to one day. If people post after the finale well...it kinda ruins that feel. Over the years we've set it up so people can backtag via comments to the finale song OR other people's posts, but if you want to make individual post songs after April 1st? You gotta do a loss. I know this sucks for people who are busy on April Fools, but with this being year three I hope you can plan accordingly so at the very least you can post and run. There are no exceptions to this rule since I feel it'd be unfair for me to pick and choose who has a valid reason to get a backdated post and who doesn't.
2) NO PRE-OOC POST. It wouldn't be April Fools if it looked like a pre-planned event. All information about this plot is word of mouth- so if you know a mun that is new this year or somehow did not notice April Fools for the past two years? TELL THEM ABOUT IT!! Usually this is not too much of a problem since people tend to catch on once they see that there is singing and I try to spend every hour I'm available in chat to answer questions :D
3) DON'T DO DOUBLE SONGS. This has...never really been a problem luckily :D in fact I can only recall about 3 or 4 times where a mun wanted to do a song that was already taken and then they easily found another song to do. Just the general rule of thumb is if you want to do a song that's sorta popular or mainstream, just ask me if anyone's called it and be prepared to have an alternative song to do if you wait until the last minute. FYI LONELY ISLAND TENDS TO GET PICKED FIRST AND A LOT, IN FACT TWO LONELY ISLAND SONGS HAVE ALREADY BEEN CLAIMED FOR THIS YEAR SO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO DO A SONG FROM THEM? ACT FAST AND CONTACT ME!! Every other artist..ever tends to go at a slower pace. Songs done from previous years are free to do again (though weirdly we had NO repeats last year from 2009 last year), so no worries there. :)
So yes besides that stuff, you guys are free to do what you want and have fun with it :) It's really incredible to see what people pull off, so I'm looking forward to what you guys have to offer!
Now onto the real reason for this post. Every year for April Fools, we have an opening song and a finale. The opening is done at 12am EST April Fools and it's done by 2+ characters. This kicks off the whole event pretty much. In 2009, Reno and Spike Speigel did "Umbrella" by Rhianna and in 2010 Allen and Arthur did "Hot N' Cold" by Katy Perry. THIS YEAR, I'm looking for volunteers to do the opening song. You can pick any song you want, do it any style you want as long as it gets posted by midnight EST. Please either comment here or contact me if you would be interested!
I also need help picking out a finale song. Usually this song is the most popular song among muns of the year, usually pretty cracky or memeic. Last year it was "Always" by Erasure and the year before that it was "I'm on a Boat" by Lonely Island featuring T-Pain. It's performed by NPCs controlled by me and any person I can strong arm into helping me.
( Finale song talk- SPOILERS?!Collapse )
But anyway, for my Intro to Jewish History & Civilization class we're currently studying the theological/cultural differences of different sectors of the Jewish faith that faith today. Part of this is a paper assignment that requires interviews from people involved in the Jewish community. Which unfortunately for me, the only Jewish people I know in my RL I either haven't spoken to in a long time so I'd feel awkward calling them up just for an interview - or have become hardcore atheists who would flip tables if I even attempted to ask for an interview about their Jewish background. So I turn to the internet, since I'm well aware that I'm not aware of everyone's religious background.
For an interview, I'm currently looking for people who identify as Jewish. It doesn't matter the religious movement or if you're currently following up on all the practices - I just need people who identify as Jewish and are possibly involved with the community (or used to be!). Mostly the interview is about what you think is Judaism and what makes a person Jewish, essentially.
I promise anything said in the interview will be confidential outside myself and the people grading my paper, since I'm well aware that talking about religion can be a touchy issue for people. If needed, we can even change your name in the paper itself to protect your identity if that would make you feel more comfortable. Not that the questions are super personal beyond talking about your religion and your opinions on Judaism...but once again, religion can be a emotional subject for people.
So if you identify as Jewish or know someone who does and would be willing to participate in an interview (ask them first!), please comment with a name and email that I can reach you or the person in question at. For the sake of giving me enough time to write up the paper, I would like to have the interviews back by November 20th if possible. If you need a later date than that, tell me and we can probably work something out.
Thank you! And comments will be screened for the sake of privacy :)

Behind the cut is the list of a 100 famous women from the 20th and 21st century. This is not a complete list and by no means the only famous women during that period of time. Please read through the list and count up all the ones that you are familiar with without needing to look up, tallying your score at the end and commenting with what it was. You don't need to repost the list, just a simple score will do. The list also has a large amount of international names, so people who not US residents can attempt to take it too.
( 100 WomenCollapse )
...Ouch. And to think I'm nearly done with a college semester of a Women's culture class too. I could say something about the status of education about women today, but really the score speaks for itself.
COME ON GUYS SURELY ONE OF YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. Also since it's public feel free to link it to other people to do.
NOW ITS TIME FOR THE SERIOUS ISSUE. A question that popped up in my head and I really want the answer for.
And that is...do the girls in Canada and other nations find foreign accents sexy, or is it just a really weird American quirk?
PLEASE ANSWER THIS POLL HONESTLY SO I MAY HAVE MY CURIOSITY A LITTLE BIT SATISFIED.
Americans: Do you find certain foreign accents attractive?
Americans: If you answered yes, what type of accents? (top 3-5)
Canadians: Do you find certain foreign accents attractive?
Canadians: If you answered yes, what type of accents? (top 3-5)
Non-US/Canadians: Do you find certain foreign accents attractive?
Non-US/Canadians: Which country are you from, and if you answered yes, which accents? (top 3-5)

If there were a Thriller Dance at Paradisa for Halloween, who should play the role of Michael Jackson?

|Average American Woman||Barbie Doll (if proportioned to human size)||Store Mannequin|
|Height||5 feet 4 inches (164.5cm)||6 feet (182.8cm)||6 feet (182.8cm)|
|Weight||145lbs (65kg)||101lbs (45kg)||n/a|
|Dress Size||11 - 14 (US size)||4 (US size)||6 (US size)|
|Bust Size||36 - 37in (91-93cm)||39in (99cm)||34in (86.3cm)|
|Waist Size||29 - 31in (73.6-78cm)||19in (48.2cm)||23in (58.4cm)|
|Hip Size||40 - 42in (101.6cm - 106cm)||33in (83.82cm)||34in (86.36)|
They say that if Barbie was a real human being with those proportions, she would lack the ability to stand and move about like a normal human being.
Also, in this same study they found that 42% of girls in 3rd grade (ages 8-10) are unhappy with their weight. By the time they are 18, it's 78%. There were more statistics, but alas my teacher did not provide them all in handouts.
And of course the average woman is an AVERAGE. Not everyone is 5'4" and not everyone should be aiming for 145 (that all varies depending on your height, size, health, etc etc) . It just pretty much shows how different the sizes of barbies and mannequins are to reality.
Now with that, I'm off to enjoy a nice sandwich and pop before work. &hearts

On the plus side, I'm actually making progress with my to-do list, it's over half done and it's only Friday! I feel extremely proud of myself for that. \o/
But sob trying to travel during Thanksgiving is expensive. Going to Chicago via bus is going to be $85 for a round trip. I'll have to wait until next paycheck, but I still plan on going. I want to see Chicago all prettied up for Christmas (for I am a Christmas geek), and to spend time with my brother and his girlfriend. Plus I admit there's a good part of me that just wants to get out of town that weekend for personal reasons. >>
And oh hay, it's Friday here :o
